Me and my partner stayed here for 2 nights, we booked it through for just under 200 which was absolutely great! The room was a wee bit small and the lighting was a wee bit dark but was a great stay. We had a room with a queen bed, toiletries/hot drinks, had a TV, internet, and own bathroom. Parking which is below the building is a wee bit of squeeze so a bigger car maybe a little hard to get down there. Great customer service from the girl at the front also. 😊

Review β„–2

Very helpful staff and friendly. Nice and clean for room. Good value.

Review β„–3

Central location close to great cafes and restaurants. Clean, comfortable and quiet room (on the fourth floor for this visit). Helpful, friendly staff. Very reasonable room rates. Would happily stay here again.

Review β„–4

Our experience at the Mercure Hotel Abel Tasman was incredibly enjoyable and we really loved our stay here. loved how close it is to everything and the room and amenities were just perfect for such an affordable accommodation. staff were very friendly and helpful which made our stay here a lot easier. Definitely would stay here again, cant wait to come back!P.S the beds were INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE!!!!

Review β„–5

The staff were amazing. Had to change rooms due to the noise from the bars and police sirens. This wasnt an issue as the staff were accommodating and we were moved the following morning. Rooms were very out dated no restaurant in operation as it was being revamped. Would highly recommend the arborist restaurant and bar which is just across the road. Handy to town just remember is cheap for a reason. If your use to 4-5 star accomodation then I would suggest you give this location a miss.

Review β„–6

Staff was very helpful and carpark was easy to get in and out of. Just ask for top floor if you need a good sleep. Thought the room above us was the gym, with all the thumping.

Review β„–7

Bring earplugs because the rooms have very thin walls to the point that you feel awkward that you can so clearly hear the conversation next door. The staff were friendly and the room was clean (though I did find a couple of black hairs in the bed).

Review β„–8

Hotel needs a fully refurbishment, Ive been in Holiday Park toilets more updated than this, first room had the carpet teared up and a loudy ventilation fan noise 24/7.Staff was helpful on sorting the issues.

Review β„–9

I suppose you get what you pay for. Staff were good. The room was clean but had black mould all around the windows. We asked them to clean while we were out and didnt clean off properly. The bathroom air vent wasnt working so the bathroom was a steam room. Ironing board was hard as nails so couldnt iron my shirt properly. Building is quite run down and really needs a revamp. And the WiFi was like dial up from 1990. Wouldnt go there again even tho it is cheap.

Review β„–10

The staff were friendly and the location was good, but the hotel itself is pretty run down and outdated. Theres zero sound proofing to the point where we could hear when the person next to us used the toilet and showered. There were no lights in the ceiling, just a selection of random wall lights so the room was always rather dim. The water pressure was essentially non-existent. I probably wouldnt choose to stay again unless the room was less than $100 a night and there was nothing else. We enjoyed the bar/restaurant downstairs.

Review β„–11

We checked in at 2.45am and were allowed a late checkout of 11am. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we required for the night. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Review β„–12

Great Hotel, good service, friendly staff.... A bit older rooms but comfortable

Review β„–13

Rooms were good, staff friendly but went to breakfast on sat and not impressed not enough tables, food was as I expected for a hotel like that. A bit disappointed as we have stayed at mercure Auckland heaps of times because they were great

Review β„–14

Well I guess you get what you pay for- rooms were super noisy- walls are paper thin - my bathroom was mouldy and the wall were pealing - I the bedroom the curtains were falling off the railThe cleaning staff were amazing - so was reception and Madison whowas super friendly and helpful - the other receptionist struggled with English but I guess she would caterer to otherclienteleI probably will not stay here again - but the location was great

Review β„–15

A great crash pad if you have had too much to eat and drink. A great location from which to wander; one of those walks .. aimless.

Review β„–16

Beautiful rooms and restaurant all in one place and very pleasant staff

Review β„–17

Great place to stay. Room nice and clean. car park is in the basement. Small car recommended. Its really tight.Lovely staff. Nice breakfast.

Review β„–18

Great central location. Good value for money.

Review β„–19

The room was big but windows were drafty, shower average and when you get woken up at 6 am by water dropping from ceiling on to bedside cabinet and splashing on my face. Rang front desk and got told have to see if maintenance was in today. Felt like staff didnt care.Wouldnt recommend at all.

Review β„–20

Stayed at a standard twin room booked via, paid $152 plus $28 for parking.Since this hotel has a small underground car park, we parked at Wilson nearby. Two small elevators, cramped room, low ceilings, no A/C & dusty fan.Staff at reception was great and helpful, tho.

Review β„–21

Very poor hotel. Old and run down, no restaurant, no bar, very average. Avoid at all costs, stay at the sofitel!

Review β„–22

First of all, the break fast was not upto the mark.Fruit served was not fresh and a little stale. We actually had to pay for our coffee as our preferred option was not available. We also had privacy issues in our room as we could hear people talking in the adjoining room. There were no facial tissues in the bathroom. The water flow in the shower was slow.Front office staff (Shreyesh) was not polite or friendly.Overall very bad and poor experience.

Review β„–23

Nice suite. Situated in the city, so grab those walking shoes and explore!

Review β„–24

Had a fantastic stay . Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were just what we wanted and needed. So convenient to Town and Te Papa .

Review β„–25

Pity about the Breakfast in the Conference room . Not enough variety , ran out often

Review β„–26

Perfectly adequate rooms if you arent the top dollar type. Good food, and nice staff.

Review β„–27

Positive Points: Great city centre location. Breakfast buffet is excellent and great value for money. The super king beds are extremely comfortable.Negative Points: Very noisy overnight, bedrooms doors banging and street noise.Rooms and communal areas are dated and grubby. Carpets and upholstery in rooms all need a deep clean. No off street parking.Staff friendly and helpful but hotel needs a big injection of cash to update and feel fresh again.

Review β„–28

A small friendly clean hotel with really genuine and helpful staff. The food was simple, tasty and real. I found the whole experience really heart warming. Definitely would stay there again. I cant compliment them enough.

Review β„–29

Very friendly staff , great location , good restaurant for breakfast but yes as other reviews - rooms not as sound proof as newer hotels - bring a set of ear plugs - and you will enjoy this super easy inner city location

Review β„–30

Great location, need a paint but is priced well enough for central location

Review β„–31

Just a shout out to Jenifer at the restaurant who looked after me last month. She is a delightful hostess and was very helpful with my meal selections which was all delicious. She is an asset for this restaurant and has the X factor in service.

Review β„–32

Room was okay people at reception very good ☺️ the down side was the noise from other guests which went on very late into the night, the carpark was difficult to maneuver as was so tight a space, other than these the room was clean and tidy

Review β„–33

Great venue for training workshops, great food..

Review β„–34

The hotel is very run down with little to no maintenance done for many years. Upon arrival it took upwards of 45 mins to get checked in due to staff member not knowing what to do. Our room had ripped curtains which didnt keep the light out at all. Air conditioning unit rattled loudly to the point it woke you up overnight if let on, yet the room is hot and stuffy without it. Milk not supplied. No minibar. Bed was not comfortable. Bathroom was dirty upon arrival, toilet had a constant running leak. No soundproofing - could constantly hear other rooms conversations or showers, doors are regularly slammed as they too have not been maintained. Light bulbs missing from 3/4 lights in the room. Housekeeping left room service leftovers in the room for over 2 days, despite being through the room for tidying. Extremely disappointed, this hotel needs a huge cash injection to get it up to standard.

Review β„–35

Great location, there is no bath in the bathroom.

Review β„–36

The hotel staff were lovely to deal with and the rooms were well appointed. The bed was fantastic. Best nights sleep Ive had for a long time. Ear plugs were provided in the bedside table as being an inner city hotel it can be noisy. The breakfast was amazing and the restaurant a lovely place to dine and watch the world pass by. Unfortunately the window in my room was dirty and had mould growing on it. The building is showing its age despite the upmarket decor. These were the only negatives I had but they did not detract from a wonderful stay.

Review β„–37

Comfortable and convenient. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review β„–38

Food here was good. Hotel a little run down in the rooms. Service was efficient and good. Thanks

Review β„–39

Tidy. Lovely staff. Fabulous meals. Good parking ... Shame that that one night some guests were loud, drunk, rude and abusive. I would definitely stay againj

Review β„–40

Overall, the service was amazing!Bed comfy and room a good size. The hotel has its own unique feel which I lovedWe flew in from AKL for an event and brought 30+ guests. With our event, we had a lot to prep for and Mercure made our stay stressfree, comfortable and was easy to deal with, especially when we had to make a few changes here and there. So thank you to Gina and the team for making our stay a great experience.Thank youFai

Review β„–41

Staff were fantastic, unfortunately that does not make up for the failings. The shower head is set for a short person and not adjustable up any further, Im only 62 and had to squat to wash my hair.Room was nice enough for an old building - however the walls are paper thin the noise from the busy roads outside is horrific - it sounds like your trying to sleep in the middle of the road. People walking normally and closing doors - the sound gets amplified and it sounds like stomping and slamming.Again the staff themselves were ultra professional

Review β„–42

Basic, simple room yet has all that you need. Situated in a smart part of Wellington, taxis are accessible and the staff accommodating.

Review β„–43

Terrible customer service with dismissive communication. Ignoring customers emails when you no longer feel like talking to them is not a great experience.

Review β„–44

Location - great! Service - great. Nice place

Review β„–45

Definitely a 3 star hotel, needs lots of love. Good location for walking around Wellington

Review β„–46

Great stay, big room and friendly staff.

Review β„–47

Needed a place to stay short notice and this was vacant and available. Clean rooms, good service, nothing to complain about. Location was also extremely convenient.

Review β„–48

A bit old and dinged up, comfy and staff excellent at Reception and Room Service, Breakfast was awesome, enough to feed me all day.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Review β„–49

Gr8 location. Bed not very comfortable but I guess that is vert much a personal thing so you decide

Review β„–50

Wonderful service. Clean and tidy. Central to the CBD. Ive stayed more than once and will continue to stay here

Review β„–51

Welcoming, clean & tidy room.

Review β„–52

This is the Bay number on-street parking. Got there 11pm. It is free from 6pm-8am. Use APP paid till 10am only $5.50 on weekends.

Review β„–53

Yip no worries checked in early bed was ok shower hot lift reliable location convenient yeah maybe the air con bit noisey but Im happy ..........

Review β„–54

Great place good Staff

Review β„–55

Well located and comfortable hotel, close to key amenities. We walked everywhere. Car park is small and tricky to navigate when busy. Staff are very friendly and they have a good breakfast selection. Its a good base from which to explore Wellington.

Review β„–56

Good location..

Review β„–57

Clean, neat and comfortable room. They offer 24 hour check in. Great location in the CBD. I would be back.

Review β„–58

Ok thats all ok

Review β„–59

Love it, great location and Freindly staff. Clean room.

Review β„–60

Was delayed due to ferry. (not my fault) was not aware that parking was not on site as seem car park mentioned. Alot of extras added once I got to the place without being told first. The reception lady asked for my name said there would be a 50 bond then when I said I had paywave deactivate it when to a 100 bond not given a reason either. Location is good. Motel I wish I had not booked here. The parking place I was suggested to park in cost 28 per 24 hours an its not even safe to park in as I had my car broken in to an alot of stuff taken. Would not recommend.TV reception was that bad it was a waste of time watching TV as it keep cutting in an out. Sky channels unless u in to sports there nothing apart from movie repeats. Room was not clean. Found stones on the floor. Walls are very thin to the point we heard the couple next door having sex really great for my 12 year old.

Review β„–61

Old out of date, the edges of room not vaccummed nor under bed, staff dont smile or have a friendly tone, key card worked half the time. Best part is the comfy bed, 2 hand towels and 2 big towels no floor towel?! Great room service and food. Complimentary coffee tastes like tumeric. And no plates or cutlery in tiny box room, This was once a beautiful spot, now just well worn needing TLC with positive staff!! Overprised for what yah get I believe

Review β„–62

Reception , Room service and Waitress staff very clued up and friendly helpful Receptionists.Shower in 204 leaked a bit, door doesnt seal closed.πŸ˜’. Very noisy, paper thin walls.

Review β„–63

Hotel looking very old and tired.Needed a good vacuum.Mattress quite uncomfortable and it was a little noisy

Review β„–64

Very bad experience. Hotel front desk staff member was quite rude and confrontational when I told him that my stay was the worst ever.Never again.

Review β„–65

A little dirty in foyer. Room was clean and basic but great for star rating

Review β„–66

Enjoyed my stay, was very pleasant and reasonably priced

Review β„–67

Great location! Everywhere we wanted to go to was within walking distance. Room was nice and clean, and relatively modern. Would recommend 😁

Review β„–68

Very accommodating when I needed to add a night to our stay at short notice this week. Have stayed here several times over the years and always clean rooms and helpful staff. Great location to walk everywhere we need to in Wellington.

Review β„–69

Nice Room and bed was great Breakfast was good value for $10 Will stay there again

Review β„–70

Its an OK place for a short stay, especially the location.. understand that its a quite old building so its a bit damp and has thin walls so a bit noisy.. but the price is reasonable...

Review β„–71

Excellent. Wonderful staff. So friendly and smiley and helpful

Review β„–72

Nice hotel in good location. Clean. Staff are friendly. A little bit noisy, thin walls?

Review β„–73

Outdated and a little tired inside. However well priced and friendly helpful staff. Fantastic location

Review β„–74

No air conditioning, jug and microwave with no sockets to.plug them into. Fan in bathroom broken. Food tray from day before still outside the room at 3.30pm the following say and room not made up on return at 3.30pm. To the hotels credit, they reluctantly moved us into a different room but would not stay here again

Review β„–75

Stayed here for four nights and would definitively come back. Very handy location. Friendly staff and a generous 11am check out and happy hour at bar $6 a beer or wine. Some road noise but this is the city and it was fine.

Review β„–76

Almost not worth 2 stars. Rooms were dirty, outdated and the hotel really had nothing worthy of the cost to offer. Honestly stay at a better located backpackers and save your money.

Review β„–77

This was probably our worst hotel stay ever. The front desk staff was very friendly, but that is about it. The shower curtain was horribly dirty. Both lifts broke down over the weekend we stayed at the hotel and they had no way of fixing them. Also there is no parking near the hotel and really badly situated. My advise. Dont bother. You will just waste your money.

Review β„–78

Great location, carparkings miserable but breakfast πŸ˜‹

Review β„–79

Very clean, modern and elegant shared spaces. Price was exceptional for the central location.. only thing I would say is that having a larger vehicle makes parking a bit of a task. But thumbs up from me.

Review β„–80

Very comfortable beds and a very clean room. It was a bit noises but that was the only bad thing. Very nice place.

Review β„–81

Clean, great location, fantastic staff. Needs refurbishing , they are fixing lifts but walking up six flights not an option. Staff were great and gave us free drinks waiting for the lift.

Review β„–82

It actually would be a nice hotel, rooms were big enough and renovated. But I was disappointed about the service. We had breakfast included, but had to leave before breakfast starts to get our flight. When we asked if we could have breakfast 15 minutes (really not that much earlier) earlier or could have a take away breakfast box, the only thing we got was NO as an answer. When we asked if we at least could have the money back for breakfast, the answer was NO again. There are so many hotels in Wellington. Next time I will definitely choose another one. Mercury Wellington Abel Tasman obviously doesnt need happy and satisfied guests.Sadly.

Review β„–83

Nice room at an affordable rate for the CBD.

Review β„–84

Great rooms, well appointed and clean, in a convenient location. The atmosphere was generally welcoming. Reception were helpful. Parking is bit tight but there is parking so a plus!

Review β„–85

Great staff, good service, breakfast was good. Rooms ok a bit tired

Review β„–86

Worst hotel experience ever. The lady at the counter was rude and treated my partner and I terribly. Our room was small and there was no air conditioning at all just a tiny fan. The weather was 17 degrees outside but in the room it was 35 all night. Also worth knowing the car park is tiny and our Holden β€œwasn’t of correct size” so they made us pay an extra $30 for parking down the road at Wilson. The lady at the counter told us this was valid for all Wilson parks and we could move it the next day as we pleased until 24hours was up. We followed her instructions and received an extra $30 parking ticket for it only being valid in the one car park. The ONE NIGHT stay ended up being over $250. Not at all impressed doesn’t even deserve 1 star.

Review β„–87

Bring ear plugs if you want a good nights sleep. The windows arent double glazed so the street noise is loud. Even worse, my room had a door through to an adjoining room. The sound proofing was so poor I could have joined in with my neighbours phone conversation and was woken up by her radio alarm clock. There was also a two inch gap under the front door. So sound flowed from everywhere.Otherwise, the room was fine, the bed comfortable and the shower powerful enough. The bathroom was a bit dated, but ok. Curtains were thin and the lifts a bit clunky and slow.

Review β„–88

Very convenient location, right in the middle of town, all events and venues within walking distance. The hotel itself is quite dated but is also very reasonably priced.

Review β„–89

Very good and convinient hotel in downtown Wellington. Big rooms and nice bed. Refridgerator! Free parking on the street at the hotel on Sundays. Parking at hotel rather pricey.Good value for money!

Review β„–90

Hotel was generally OK, staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was a bit of a mess especially the shower area. There was a lot of noise from the bars downstairs but thats the trade off for staying in the centre of a vibrant city, ear plugs were also provided in the room πŸ‘ so that was a plus.

Review β„–91

Staff absolutely brilliant. Would have got 5stars if lifts were working properly. One under repair, the remaining lift kept stopping due to overheating. Central location.

Review β„–92

Good place to stay at a reasonable price

Review β„–93

Nice hotel Friendly staff

Review β„–94

Fantastic location and tidy rooms. The people at reception were friendly. I was puzzled that doors were locked in one of the two stairwells.

Review β„–95

A bit dated, but staff and location are both outstanding

Review β„–96

Beware: they tell you, that they charge credit cards a 2 percent surcharge. That is ok and there is a big sign on the desk. However: I paid with a Master Card Debit card and still got charged the 2 percent. They told me: it doesn’t matter. I researched this a bit and Master Card in New Zealand has significantly lower fees with the debit scheme than with the credit scheme. So this Mercure makes a nice profit on debit cards while charging the fees for credit cards. It also took me a while to explain to them that there is a difference between payment schemes. Shouldn’t someone who sells things be trained in topics like money? Other than that: The Mercure is nice. It’s close to the airport bus. Everything else is in walkable distance. You have a ridiculous amount of buses as an option. It’s also an affordable hotel. Wifi is a bit unreliable. Especially on multiple connections like browsing. Bandwidth is high though. Almost no streaming issues. Streaming doesn’t make to many server calls.BTW if you check in online on your day of arrival you will save the surcharge. Doesn’t make sense, but that’s the case here.

Review β„–97

Do not recommend this hotel at all. Accidentally left expensive headphones and a few items of clothing in hotel, had called hotel at airport and was told to email with confirmation of my credit card being charged. Had been done yet items were never sent. Called 3 Times with everytime being told I would be called back, yet month later still no items and no follow up. Have contacted the Police to resolve issue. Rooms were small, unclean and had to request room to be cleaned and have towels replaced.

Review β„–98

Booked an apartment got a box. Could not fit anything in the fridge and no freezer for ice. Could not even get both suitcases in the bedroom had to leave one in the lounge. Very noisy although we were on the fifteen floor. But great location.

Review β„–99

Good service, good bed, good deal. Mr Shiraz is primo. Central

Review β„–100

The location of the hotel is perfect. Easy to travel around Wellington CBD on foot. Friendly staff. Clean sheets and towels were provided.Β·Β The room decor was quite outdated and had a musty smell. Bathroom contained mould and there was a cracked wall next to the shower. Parking cost $28 per night despite spending so much on the room. We could hear the noise in the nest door room from the walls being super thin
