Value for money. Quiet location in the city centre. Lovely comfortable beds. Great, friendly service. Enjoy staying here.

Review №2

Just your average decent space. Love the hallways.

As a well travelled older couple (60+) we are used to a whole range of experiences. We booked the hotel via a well known website and paid in full then. I rang hotel to arrange after hours arrival and to confirm that payment had been made. It was confirmed that indeed this was the case.Arriving on a rather wild & windy night we accessed our room, dumped the bags and went for dinner. Upon our return to our room later in the night we found the shower head was broken so only about 1/2 the water actually reached us and it was only tepid. With no reception on duty & the late hour, we had no way to fix the issue. The following morning the water was at last hot and we managed haphazard showers. Upon checkout we advised the front desk and received blank looks and no apology - obviously a regular occurrence for them and they didnt care.Deliberately asked when we left if there was to be any charge on our credit card (which HAD to supplied to gain after hours access), and was told that no, everything paid in advance.Imagine my anger when I checked my credit card account the next day to find that there was a charge for a nights stay! We have had double-dipping charges in the USA but never in NZ. This is the first time and I honestly feel they were taking the p..s out of us. I had checked to see if the prepayment was processed prior to arrival and open departure and THEY STILL CHARGED US TWICE !!!!It might be central, but it is noisy (rubbish trucks at 6am), the facilities are not reliable and the staff are uninterested in things. I would liken this to a backpackers accomodation in Athens where the favourite motto is maybe today, maybe tomorrow.BEWARE AND CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT - and older people, I would suggest a proper hotel may suit you better

Review №4

Nice hotel with modern decor and friendly staff. Only negative would be noise from water running down the pipes in the walls and trucks outside most mornings.Overall nice hotel and good value.

Review №5

Terrible customer experience with inadequate response when issues brought to managements attention. Heres how not to treat your customer...1. Turned up at around 6:30 PM on a Saturday night and reception was closed. We had not received any out of hours check in instructions so called the number on the door. They gave us a code to get an envelope from lock box with key and room number inside.2. Theres a proxy card to get in but no room number. We have to call back the phone number to get room number.3. Get to room, the proxy card only gets you into the hotel, not your room. We need a key. Call the number again, someone comes by with a key.4. Enter room, thinking worst is behind us, go to put drinks in fridge. Fridge is out of service. Called completely fed up and shared the situation with management. Was advised someone would get in touch. No one did. So here I am... Warning you to avoid this hotel.

Review №6

Separate tiolet, kitchenette and roomy. Walking distance to the waterfront. Lots of good shops nearby.

Review №7

Compact clean and tidy. Well located

Review №8

Located in CBD, but slightly difficult to find as its hinding behind some buildings. Its clean and surprising quiet. Offer gym access although I didnt use it. Friendly service.

Review №9

Nice rooms, but they could do with a reception presence until 10-ish.

Review №10

Good, well kept rooms with decent space. Because of surrounding buildings there is often not much natural light however. Good, friendly and helpful service. Excellent location for city access, with either a steep hill for exercise or lifts available. Room came with free gym & pool access in Majestic Centre.

Review №11

We spent 4 nights at the Gilmer Apartment Hotel; 3 nights in the queen room and 1 night in the two bedroom apartment. The location is great for walking to Lambton Quay and surrounds, and the hotel and facilities were modern and well-equipped; comfortable beds and pillows were a bonus. The only downside was the queen room was very stuffy and hot, to the point we could barely sleep - we addressed this with the front desk staff who asked us if the heater was on (it wasn’t) and if we’d opened the window (we had, which let in quite a bit of noise and smell from outside). They then told us there was nothing else they could do. Upon moving to the two bedroom apartment on our last night, we were disappointed to find that this apartment was equipped with a pedestal fan, and that we weren’t offered the option of sourcing one for our first three nights from another room.Overall, the accommodation was really good, and the service was friendly, but could be improved.

Review №12

Great central location. Friendly staff, Aircon was either ineffective or just not operating. Room was fine, no lock on bathroom.

Review №13

We loved our little apartment suite here at Gilmer. The laundry machine is extremely convenient for travelers! The hotel is five minutes’ walk from downtown and the staff are lovely. The only complaint I have is the parking garage next door, which shined bright lights into our room all night and the sound of car doors slamming would frequently wake us. This however is not the fault of the hotel and if you’re a heavy sleeper it won’t matter. We’d definitely stay here again.

Review №14

Very good value for money and friendly, helpful staff. Great location

Review №15

The hotel and staff was awesome. The location was GREAT! The only issue was the cab driver didnt honour the $29.00 flat rate fair to the airport. We were charged $37.00. This is not a reflection on the hotel but, if there is a partnership between the two businesses, the cab driver failed to honour their deal in the partnership.

Review №16

Place was clean and tidy and close to CBDOnly 1 little complaint TV was not working due to one of the cables missing a connection but apart from this all happy with the stay there

Review №17

Great centrally located place! Friendly faces to greet you, and with (paid) parking next to the building, its ideal. Neat and tidy rooms too!

Review №18

My second stay at The Gilmer Apartment Hotel has been as wonderful as the first. Staff are attentive and thoughtful. When the wahine machine broke, someone came up immediately and the service person came out next day.Make sure to ask staff how to take the shortcut to town :)Countdown groceries can be delivered or pick up is a five minute walk. This facility has ecofriendly shampoo, conditioner, and body wash built in to the shower so no bother of little bottles or running out.All appliances in the kitchen look new and functional. All in all, fantastic value for money.

Review №19

The rooms a small. Good for 0ne, two ppl might be a little cramped. But location is A+

Review №20

Just make sure that, if you are checking in after hours you get the right code for the key lock. I spent 20 mins on the phone outside in the rain and they were giving me the code from the day before. But overall the service was good. The rooms are quite big and they well equipped with microwave, hob, fridge, a little tv and washing machine. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Review №21

Just a great room space

Review №22

Reception from all staff is friendly, helpful and smile😊and accommodate your needs as much as possible. I am dependant on Càregivers to help me and needed some help after hours last week. I was in bed with broken leg and could not let in as was one without key. Management were contacted as live on site and Iet her in after-hours. Is one of the best wheelchair accessible bathroom and studio unit for a wheelchair I have had. Very reasonably priced, free daily paper and nothing is too much trouble. I try to treat them and others how I would like to be treated, with kindness and a smile and they do that in return.Only thing I miss is a lighter, sunny apartment as between buildings, but everything else makes up for that. I can wheel outside for my sunshine and harbour fix. Doors are fire doors so very heavy to bedroom, only suggestion I could make, could they be lightened?

Review №23

Literally just apartments, as the name suggests. No offering of hotel-like things, such as food room service or the likes. But clean and nice if all you want to do is have a place to rest in.

Review №24

Clean tidy and well stocked apartments with washing machine and basic kitchen. Reception maned in the day with friendly staff. Good central location to Lampton Quay and the Waterfront. Would stay here again.

Review №25

Not the best hotel I have stayed in but if you are looking for a clean hotel in the center of the city this will fulfill that need. The room we had was small and practically airless! The window does not open which is normal for many hotels and especially in New Zealand but they should have found another way to circulate air as that was uncomfortable. The staff was friendly and the bed was very comfy.

Review №26

Was a great stay. Very friendly staff who go above and beyond to please their guests. Comfy bed and clean rooms.

Review №27

Great place to stay. Very efficient booking, and highly responsive with emails.

Review №28

Good value. Great location for car access and parking and close to walk to Lambton Quay. We were surprised that a double bed really was a double (usually at least a queen) so bed felt a bit cramped. Clean and tidy and room an acceptable size. Good for one night. Will stay again but aim for a bigger bed!!

Review №29

Nice and tidy room for the one night I stayed. Checkin was easy. If you want to checkout early, you need to have prior arrangement.

Review №30

Nice and clean. Washed a couple loads of laundry with soap provided in the room. Limited parking and a $20 charge per day for a spot.5 minute walking access to waterfront shops and restaurants via a sneaky parkade elevator; makes you feel like a secret agent.Front desk staff suggested restaurants and routes to get the most out of our one night in Wellington.

Review №31

Very great experience here, clean and tidy, has a kitchenette, washing machine and skytv too! The bathroom is very small though and a bit of a noisy area but ear plugs were provided which made it better. I will definitely be back again.

Review №32

Lovely clean rooms. Close to city center. My go to hotel when coming Wellington.

Review №33

This hotel is unique in its location; walking through a series of steps behind it and you find yourself along Lambton Quay with all its pretty shops and diverse restaurants.and cafes. The rooms are also clean and equipped to give you sense of comfort and security. If you drive, it is close enough to the highway to bring you to places conveniently. I enjoyed my stay here immensely.

Review №34

Stayed here with my boyfriend for 8 days. Loved the location of Gilmer. Good for our medium-length stay, the kitchen was well-equipped, had a washer/dryer and comfortable bed. Only downside was parking was a bit expensive, and the view from our room was not the best.

Review №35

Good location. Even it is in the commercial area, is lovated in a quiet street. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms. Good price

Review №36

This is a great place to stay in Wellington. Its right in the centre of town and close to all the shops and restaurants. Our king apartment was spacious with a comfortable king sized bed, well equipped kitchenette, good WiFi, satellite TV and a washing machine/dryer. The bathroom was a little on the small side and there was a bit of street noise in the mornings but this is to be expected in such a central location. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review №37

Great Place good people Heaps of Shopping

Review №38

First time staying in an apartment hotel. Excellent service. Room is great and facilities for a longer stay look very Good, including a microwave, two element hotplate, dual washer, drier, clothes horse and ironing board and iron.

Review №39

The location was good for us. Check-in was smooth with lots of information regarding the local area.A neat shortcut to Lambton Quay was highlighted, and we found it very useful. We booked the car park in advance. Its outdoors next to the apartment and theres limited spaces available. Its nice to have a washing machine/dryer in the room.

Review №40

Stayed here for two night, Friday and Saturday. Was exceptional value for money. Comfy bed and the pillows! OMG the pillows! I want to find out where to buy them. Theyre amazing.Had everything you need in a large hotel style room.Shower was really nice. Couldnt say enough good things about this place.Staff were helpful and friendly too. Would definitely stay again.:)

Review №41

Our room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. We were close enough for an easy walk to Cuba St but far from noisy crowds. The staff was very helpful and I really appreciated that they did our dishes for us when we were out for the day.

Review №42

Highly recommended. Not overly flash but more than adequate and the staff were tops. Rooms very clean and comfortable

Review №43

Unexpectedly great. Easy parking, easy after hours check-in, the rooms are very well setup with quality furnishings. And the price was great. We did expect a lot less for what we paid.

Review №44

The place was modern, spacious and clean. Staff was friendly too. But the rooms face tall buildings and are quite dark. Also, the location is close to everything but its not very attractive. Entries/Exits are in a tight back alley with parking lots and dumpsters around. Just got a bad vibe walking around.

Review №45

Rooms have plenty of space. Kitchen is stocked with the bare essentials but it is all functional. Staff were friendly. Washer/Dryer struggles to dry even small loads of laundry. The city is accessible on foot.

Review №46

I really enjoyed my stay here, having been in on a train for around 12hrs I was so relieved when we found this was clean and comfortable. It was reasonably quiet for the city and the staff were so friendly. Great value for $99, will definitely do serviced apartments in the future.

Review №47

Very convenient to the heart of the city, welcoming and comfortable. Also within walking distance to Victoria University. It really was a great spot.

Review №48

Descent apartment near downtown Wellington. It is still 15-20 min walk to downtown though. Sparkling clean. The housekeeping crew do a good job keeping the place shiny. My only complaint is that our room is so tiny (indicated in their booking website). There is very little space in the room. Other than that, this is a good accomodation place.

Review №49

Lovely place to stay very friendly and helpful staff.close to the city

Review №50

Comfortable bed and clean room. Hallways were under construction during my stay. So many stairs to walk up to get here.

Review №51

Excellent apartmented to stay. 1 star less because they failed to arrange parking on first night despite i made a request during booking. but otherwise highly recommended. Clean, quite and nice room with all basic aminities and just a short walk to the main markets.

Review №52

We originally booked a different hotel which turned out to be awful, so we made a last minute booking at Gilmer instead. It was such a welcome change! The staff was friendly, the room was large and bright, and it had a washer/dryer. It was only slightly more than the first place but was exponentially superior. Super close to everything including multiple parking structures.

Review №53

Excellent service by Jojo

Review №54

Cozy amazing apartment hotel in Wellington CBD, I booked through Agoda and the rate is cheap than the website itself!

Review №55

Price was great, apartment was clean and tidy. Good location, good service at the desk. Would definitely recommend.

Review №56

Review №57

Excellent price for what you get and nice and central. 40 seconds from the motorway.

Review №58

Well furnished roomed in an excellent location. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Wellington 5/5

Review №59

Amazing place to stay. It is right in the heart of Welly and the service is just great! The rooms are so comfortable. We will definetely go back!

Review №60

All lovely well organised and friendly. Great location up the hill.

Review №61

Clean and spacious room with washer and dryer in the room! Friendly staff. 2 thumbs up!

Review №62

My company often puts me up here when Im in Wellington for the night. Decent prices, decent Wifi, friendly staff and nice clean rooms. I prefer starting here to a hotel.

Review №63

Nice rooms and friendly staff. Too much noise outside though

Review №64

Clean room with everything you need. Laundry, shower, kitchen. There was no air conditioning which wasnt a problem for us. It was in downtown so it was really convenient. Parking is pricey but it is expected in Wellington.

Review №65

Great place close to all a shopper could want apartments clean and well serviced quiet .

Review №66

Handy to town although you need to go through a carpark or up Plimmer steps and round the corner to find it. The decor is a bit dated with the bathroom being mostly 80s plastic. Service was good but reception is only open certain times of the day. The rest of the time you are diverted to an after hours phone service to talk to.

Review №67

Great for business travel. I have also stayed at a nearby business travel chain, but the Gilmer apartment offered better facilities, better internet and better price than the chain hotel. The absence of a dining room does not bother me, given the exceptionally convenient central location to Lambton Quay.

Review №68

Great location close to the city centre and has kitchenette and washing machine which are useful for a longer stay. No air conditioning though and is noisy with the windows open.

Review №69

In a 2 bedroom apartment. It was loud and cold and both bedrooms were cramped. The only bathroom was a very small ensuite size.

Review №70

Great accommodation. Friendly staff, very clean and tidy room and excellent, central location :-)

Review №71

Nicely refurbished. Decent size rooms and a good location.

Review №72

Room and bed a bit too small, great amenities.

Review №73

Very nice. Guy at front desk was excellent.

Review №74

Awesomeness to the max service. Staff helped me from the moment I arrived. I had dizzy spells and the staff couldnt be any better. I give them 10 out of 10! Must stay apartment. They took me to my room. I cant fault them!

Review №75

Good location. Closer to the motorway. 10 mins walk approx to Wellingtons nightlife.

Review №76

Friendly staff, decent rooms, easy walk to town, would stay here again

Review №80

Review №81

Good location - very practical & accessible. Fully equip - kitchenette laundry TV. Quiet and clean room.

Review №82

Very nice, clean and comfortable apartment with easy access to Lambton Quay. There us one issue though, the rooms do need air conditioning!

Review №83

Clean, decent size rooms and kitchenette, helpful and accommodating staff with excellent pricing. (Dont come here looking for views of the city or water though.). Seems to be pretty close to center of CBD and very near cable Car. (Ive stayed in multiple rooms, pics are of 2xdouble bed room with lounge area.)

Review №84

Nice rooms close to cbd

Review №85

It was like sleeping in a car parking building. Not only because you are surrounded by them and kept awake all night with cars, motorbikes, screaming locals and garage doors opening and closing but the concrete structure and zero view adds to the feeling of being in a car park.

Review №86

Great little place, excellent bed and good services.

Review №87

Great location for visiting Wellington, friendly snd helpful staff, clean room with good facilities, would stay there again.

Review №88

Nice apartments, good for a short break, but car parking $20 a night

Review №89

Great location, clean and fresh.

Review №90

Great facilities. After hours arrangements possible.

Review №91

We stayed for 3 nights. Very comfortable and straightforward to find. Central. Would return again.

Review №92

Great place for a reasonably priced stay particularly friends travelling together

Review №93

Good central location. Clean, well equipped with comfortable bed.

Review №94

Staff friendly and helpful. Basic facilities

Review №95

Good accomodation, clean rooms, great shower. Relatively close main streets. A bit of a hike back and forth from main streets ia the only thing sropping me to give 5 out of 5.

Review №96

Wicked place. Nice and private .short walk from anything, will use again

Review №97

Nice apartment hotel. Quiet yet handy location through James Cook hotel lift to Lambton Quay. Patchy WiFi though.

Review №98

Receptionist was lovely. But the room was not very clean. We moved the couch to see the tv and it had rubbish and nail clippings under it. The dining chairs had hair and dust on them. Needs a good vacummn. We were then kept awake by the lift which was on our bedroom wall. Bathrooms amd kitchen clean.

Review №99

Efficient and friendly staff.

Review №100

Comfy and nice room. Friendly staff
