Shaky Isles Coffee Co.

Got the duck salad today. Very nice duck, tasted very yummy... but the amount of soy sauce on the watermelon made it taste very strange...Maybe use a light more honey base? Because the watermelon and soy, sweet 50% salty 50% wasn’t sure what’s what’s...The ice chocolate was very yummy tho. Very nice! Will try some other stuff next time to boost the rating!Service: 4/5Environment: 4/5Presentation: 4/5Food Quality: 3/5Food Quantity: 3/5Price per person: $10-$30

Shaky Isles is a great and cozy place for having lunch, breakfast, ...or just a tasty latte/flat white! 😋 Lovely served with beautiful cup teaspoons 👌And nice view on the buildings around 🌆🌌

Review №3

A nearly-fine café that falls short on details. Spacious and rustic decor, with versatile seating. City prices, but the menu extensive. I took the corn fritters with a large flat white. The fritters were light and fluffy but I sensed they were freshly cooked - but the again service was quick so that probably explains it. The streaky bacon was flavourful. Coffee outstanding - smooth and full of taste. Tables cleared but not wiped down; I had to find my own knife.

Review №4

We did not know that there was a whole chain of shaky Isles across New Zealand when we first walked into this one at Customs Street.Absolutely loved the ambience and decoration:- especially the advice to straddle large mammals.Definitely require improvement on service however as most tables were not cleared and food took awhile to ready. Lovely coffee and we enjoyed our brunch tremendously.

Review №5

We stumbled upon this place after first arriving in Auckland. Service was nice and we could easily find a table on a Sunday morning. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming from brunch before leaving town.

Review №6

These were some of the best pancakes I have ever eaten. Milkshake was expensive but yummy. Cafe was also beautifully decorated and nice and tidy. Love all the plants and decor! Will be back when I next visit Auckland.

Review №7

Yummy food and yummy coffee! We got the blueberry muffin and açaí bowls, both were great! The muffin wasn’t too sweet. The location is right around the corner from the ferry building, so it’s a great place to start your day!

Review №8

A really nice vibe with nice staff. The coffee is great and the food is really good. They change the menu up often and I have been here a few times and never gone away disappointed thus far. Great place for a coffee or a meal.

Review №9

Service is always very quick. Portion for the eggs Benedict was as expected but the breakfast was slightly small compared to other places I’ve been. The potato was cooked in what books like a waffle iron so it was super crunchy and tasty. The eggs were cooked well but the bacon was a bit thin and fatty. The chutney that is came with was tasty. They have lots of cabinet food and make their hot chocolates with a Whitaker’s bar so that is always a plus!

Review №10

Great breakfast, coffee and juiceSuper relaxed atmosphere!

Review №11

Nice place the interior space is modern combined with industrial it is just amazing definitely worth checking out!

Review №12

Service:1/5When we went in, the waiter saw us and just ignored us. We sat down and needed to ask for the menu. The table was dirty and nobody came clean it so we had to wipe by ourselves.Food: 3/5The Egg Benedict wasn’t served with bread but deep fried potato waffles and the mushrooms came with this got too much rosemary spices. The ingredients in the Breakfast Bowl didn’t match each other. The milk foam for flat white was thicker than cappuccino.....Never gonna come back again.

Review №13

The coffee is really good but the food was a bit too oily. The base for eggs benny and other ones I tried was made with the potato patty ,seems like a good idea but for breakfast it’s way too filling and oily !!

Review №14

Mushys were yummy! Would recommend and will be visiting again! Great coffee as well

Review №15

Spacious cafe in the heart of Britomart that serves up way more all-day brunch food than I had expected. A group of us had met here this morning for a work coffee catch-up, and easily found a space to accommodate us to have a drink and breakfast. Only main issue I had was that in my time constrained 30 minutes, it took about 15 minutes to get my tea... my tea even came out _after_ the sandwich that I had ordered which meant I had to try to get it all down in the last 10 minutes before I had to up and go. Outside of that the experience has been pleasant.

Review №16

Good coffee, and some interesting breakfast choices. I had the crumbed eggs which were yummy. Good cabinet food too, with brownies and slices etc. bit pricey, but probably standard for this part of town. Efficient service, couldnt fault it.

Review №17

Service was absolutely fabulous, both service staff and manager.... bought 3 pies for takeaway and I was impressed by the packaging.....will update this after tasting the pies later....

Review №18

The place is cozy and comfortable to set a client meeting. I love their Mocha with a piece of chocolate bar in it. The taste is good and rich but the price is kinda expensive for me.

Review №19

The vibe and food at this place is great. I went on a Sunday around 10am. It was crowded but only a few people in line and a few open tables. The food was great. Only complaint at all was it took about 30 mins to get scrambled eggs and bacon. Beside that, its great.

Review №20

Latte was awesome. Also brunch is good.

Review №21

Literally, i am sitting in the cafe and giving comment atm. To be honest, this is the saddest chicken lettuce bun burger I ever had in Auckland. Guys please if you can read my comments please change it. I do not mind to pay more so i can get a better one, not the one with ony lettuce, sauce, onione and chicken. I rather buy McDonalds fancy burger and cost me only around 11 bucks than this. Shaky Isles used to be my favorite back, right now im doubt about that. I love the coffee here. Im not a fan of strong bitter coffee here is one of my favorite. So, yes coffee is still good so far, food a bit upset.

Review №22

Great coffee, good food and pleasant service

Review №23

One of the better coffee outlets in CBD area. 2nd best after Mojo for me !! Flat white was very nice and best part for me is (may be not for everyone) that they serve with a double shot of coffee by default. If havent tried yet..then please do checkout. Also the interiors are quite different and very cool. Give it a try...u wont be disappointed.

Review №24

Shaky Isles is in a great location in Britomart, near heaps of different public transport options. Ordered eggs benedict and have a few times. It was served on top of what appeared to be waffles which I wasnt a huge fan of personally. Theres a decentish amount of seating, but there does tend to be a lot of uncleared dishes on tables which can sometimes be a pain! Its convenience in the city is what makes it a good option to go to.

Review №25

My boyfriend and I went there for breakfast. I wasnt really sure what to get on the menu but I took a chance with a meal that sounded more interesting and weird than anything else. Thought I would hate it but it was probably the most delicious breakfast I had! It was full of flavor and color and plated so nicely. We both loved our drinks and meals.

Review №26

The rosti halloumi was just amazing...I enjoyed every bite...the caramel slice is worth the prive...the coffee is good.Highly recommended !

Review №27

Had a nice eggs benedict with salmon. Some bones but otherwise delicious.

Review №28

Yummy food every time I visit. Never let down!

Review №29

Always superb, never any complaints and maybe best bacon buttie in Auckland!

Review №30

Great place to hang in the afternoon while checking out the pics you took or just whats on the internet. Coffee is seriously legit. Cinnamon donut is also quite fine. If youre a fudge fam, try the ginger and pistachio slice. Hope to be back.

Review №31

Service is just so so. Food is tasty and coffee is good.

Review №32

Great atmosphere here! Love the decor, and the coffee was delicious! Staff were really friendly and helpful. The service was fast, and the food fresh and delicious! Great spot to sit, and watch the world go by.

Review №33

Their coffee beans are nice but their customer service is not. Had to chase them to get an answer to a simple question, and no apologies when I told them they answered too late so I went elsewhere. It’s like they don’t want people’s business. Based on this they have missed out on a possible coffee bean subscription.

Review №34

Cute relaxing spot for a nice hot drink, I appreciate the whole stick of Whittaker’s in every hot chocolate

Review №35

One of my favourite coffee shops in Auckland. I often go there with my friends and have nice long discussions. I have tried cappuccino and muffin, they are delicious. I would recommend everyone to go there.

Review №36

Breakfast was awesome! loved the banana bread with coconut yogurt.

Review №37

Great place and great coffee :)

Review №38

Loved the chicken burger and milk shake at this place, the sausage roll even had proper meat.

Review №39

Excellent food and really nice place.

Review №40

Coffee is great, nice spacious refuge from the city even though its at the heart of things. The only second visit in as many weeks and sadly the service on both occasions you could charitably call brusque with attitude - the feeling that someone has something much more urgent to be doing. Alas, people remember how you made them feel, not what you created. Perhaps understaffed, to which I would say its a miracle it can keep standards so high.

Review №41

What a pleasant find. Try it great food and options

Review №42

Very good cafe in Auckland CBD. The cafe is pretty big and they serve food as well. The coffee was awesome!

Review №43

Not my favourite cafe but can rely on Shakey for a fast cup of coffee. I ordered a flat white and a coconut ball, that tasted very stale like it had been out for a few days - probably should have learnt my lesson never to order their counter food.

Review №44

My wife and I normally enjoy our time at Shaky Isles. However we are very disappointed as their incorrect hours online meant that we couldnt have breakfast when we had travelled in especially for it. I cannot understand a cafe that is unable to keep vital information up to date such as current opening hours.

Review №45

Average coffee. Egg on toast was ok. There was no butter, just one egg and two slices of bread :-)

Review №46

Great place, great vibe, excellent staff, lovely food and outstanding coffee

Review №47

I would call it one of its kind place in terms if its character and ambience. A bit higher on prices however given its location and quality of delicious Cafe style food you get, its worth the money. Good staff with ample seating. Would definitely recommend for a weekend breakfast or brunch with family and friends. Not so much for any business meeting.Try a stroll to the precinct behind it after the meal too.

Review №48

It was So amazing mocaccino❤️

Review №49

Cute cafe, good Coffee

Review №50

No complaints about the food. The staff however is rude and clueless about the operations of their cafe. I was given a voucher for a free hot beverage a couple of weeks ago with my breakfast. I was told it was fake when I went back to redeem it. The point is not about a 4 dollar coffee, it is about how you treat customers.

Review №51

I love Shaky Isles. While we dont live near by Britomart any longer (were now in the States) but we used to live right up the street and stop in almost every day. So when we came back to visit, t was one of the first places we stopped for a coffee when we got to Britomart. A couple people have mentioned it, but seriously, their mochas and hot chocolates with a piece of Whittakers chocolates are so good! Their flat whites will always be one of the best in town. I know a few people have said their prices are a bit high but compared to other cafes in the area I think their coffees are much better quality and worth the extra buck.

Review №52

Cute place for a Saturday morning coffee when seemingly no other indie coffee shops in the CBD are open. Lots of various seating options, big windows and nice branding.

Review №53

Nice place 👍

Review №54

Lovely staff, have great Wifi and the coffee comes fast and was very good.Nice place to have a sit down and catch up meeting or with friends. The overall vibe of the place is very funky and easy going.Staff were friendly and helpful when it came to ordering drinks. There is food available however I did not try any at the time. what I saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing!

Review №55

Great place for a coffee and lunch. Very yummy menu. Easy talking environment to catch up with friends or have a business meeting over lunch.

Review №56

Just magic!!!

Review №57

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat for breakfast before fare welling some friends at Britomart. A range of food and drink options available with smoothies and juices a great option for a quick refuel. Also had a couple coffees while we were in. A solid option if you need to a quick bit and a drink in the center of Auckland.

Review №58

Great local coffee shop in Auckland CBD. Bottomless soft brew single origin - one of the only places in CBD where you can get a decent cup. Food is good, generally Gluten free options available. Coffee beans are available too, not a huge variety but solid quality. Lots of space inside to sit and chat but can get quite loud.

Review №59

Pleasant surprise! Just at closing they still made us a coffee and welcomed us to stay while they cleaned. They didnt have to but kindly did anyway. Also the coffee is very good and toilets were clean and atmosphere bang on.

Review №60

Good coffee, cabinet food, can order off a menu for breakfast and lunch type foods. Handy location.

Review №61

Group of 4 for breakfast. We found it hard to find a table as the tables werent cleared so ended up sitting at a table that had dirty dishes on it and they were cleared when a staff member came to deliver our drinks. The food was good, I had the eggs benedict which was good however not the best Ive had. Some of the food on display looks questionable. Will definitely give it another go though as there is potential.

Review №62

Definitely the best coffee in town! Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff - just a great place to go and enjoy your coffee

Review №63

Had the breakfast salad, one egg greens and some crunchy stuff, nice light vinaigrette but did feel ripped off, partner had eggs on toast which was literally just that, not even any butter on the bread, very disappointing, coffee was good, really wanted them to nail it but fell well short. Theres Hollywood just round the corner and to be honest they would have done a better job. No matter what the price, everything on the menu should be special in some way or either dont bother or charge a couple of dollars more and make it special.

Review №64

Chicken burger was so basic and definitely not worth $16 for fried chicken, some lettuce shreds and a weird dried mint sauce. Menu said it had hot sauce but mine did not. Really not what you would expect from a place that used to have a good name

Review №65

Best bloody burger I have ever had, awesome garlic fries and a great ambient atmosphere. The beef patty was cooked medium and was juicy and delicious, tasted like a home kill steak, yum crispy lettuce and pickles and some amazing mayo and tomato sauce that I believe was house made, plus the bun was fried and perfect and just brought it all together, all together I almost bought another but my waistline didnt need it! Havent tried the coffee or cabinet food but I will most surely be returning for that burger

Review №66

I love this spot for the most beautiful mocha in Auckland CBD, with a Whittakers sante bar melting into it. Food is pretty good, but I was disappointed with the amount of sauerkraut in the Reuben. Slices, donuts etc in the cabinet have been consistently tasty.Service can be patchy here - have had to chase up my coffee a few times.

Review №67

Beautiful place, amazing beverages, amazing food

Review №68

Very quick service and extremely yummy food

Review №69

Busy but didnt wait too long, nice staff and delicious food

Review №70

Ginger squares are my new favourite thing.

Review №71

Pricey food, but you get a good snack as far as taste is concerned. Not $4 for a small cube of caramel slice or $7-9 for a donut or muffin good, but good nonetheless. Coffee is pretty reasonably priced and tastes good!

Review №72

Coffee tends to be a little burnt/bitter from the times I have visited. The team would do well to receive some training on perfecting their espresso. Location and set up is great however.

Review №73

A great place for a morning meeting before it gets too busy during the midday rush. The organic, free range egg breakfast options are perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, definitely recommend the truffle mushrooms, goat cheese scrambled eggs.Coffee is perfectly extracted and served in a proper 160ml flat white cup. Well worth a visit before the rush.

Review №74

Everything I would want in a cafe. Social layout, plants, casual and homey aesthetic and bloody delicious kai.

Review №75

Has this place changed owners? Awful coffee rock hard muffin and a ginger slice that only the icing was able to be eaten. Staff not interested such a shame was once an awesome place.

Review №76

Nice space in a great spot. However, the iced chocolate just tastes like quik. Not blended or anything. The pastry we ordered looked like it was heated in a microwave and was all flat when we received it. The milkshake was ok.

Review №77

Great service and good food and coffee. Fav place and have recommended many of friends here. Price is on the high end.

Review №78

Coffee is always top quality and warm services.

Review №79

This is my second time here. I ordered Orgy of Mushrooms and Coffee and the food was good but coffee was burnt and yuck. Today I went again and ordered the Orgy of Mushrooms and orange juice this time because didn’t want to be disappointed with the coffee again. But it was the food that was disappointing. The Mushrooms and the sauce was over powered by vinegar. It was so bad but I also was on my half hour lunch break and had already taken 15 minutes to make so I didn’t want to wait for a new one. It’s like someone poured a whole cup of vinegar in the sauce it was so vinegar-y. I will try this place one more time in the future and if it doesn’t change then I will not be returning. Please fix your coffee and taste the food before it goes out to customers. Thanks

Review №80

Friendly staff, great food and the shakes are amaaaazing! Highly recommend the coffee and peanut butter shake 💕

Review №81

Really good customer service, even if there is no honey, they get that for me. Really considerate. Fantastic.

Review №82

This busy cafe has a good atmosphere and is located in one of the old Britomart buildings. The food and drink range and quality are very good (Good place for a breakfast) and the staff are all friendly. Recommended.

Review №83

Great food and coffee. Sat there for hours catching up with old friends in town. Awesome menu and coffee

Review №84

The most delicious dark chocolate mocha. So hard to find truly dairy free mochas especially at a chain establishment but this is tops. Plating proportions have ways struck me as being on the small side for the price of the dish...

Review №85

We sat down with my elderly mum at 1:15pm on Boxing Day. We were looking at menus. Place pretty full, lots of people eating. Went up to order food at 1:31pm, and was told kitchen closed at 1:30pm. They would not budge even though kitchen was still busy. Person behind counter smiled at me and said “it’s a holiday”. And “have a nice day”. No apology offered. Manager standing off to side. Just looked at me with a grim face. I’ll never go back there again.

Review №86

Service was good. Loved the environment. Only thing was, not sure if it was because they were busy but cutlery wasnt stocked up at the tables....

Review №87

I come here nearly every day. Extremely friendly staff, great food and coffee. I particularly love the chicken burger

Review №88

Good coffee, good food. Was a little cold. But the staff were friendly and the coffee was delicious

Review №89

Great food, I had vegetarian, would totally come back again. Lots to chose from. Super yummy green smoothie too.

Review №90

If i could leave 0 stars I would. Customer service just ruined this experience, this place used to be good 2 years ago. half those guys walking around throwing so much attitude, is it hard for a smile after you get the order wrong twice! (it wasnt even busy!) Food was cold when served then they forgot to add an eggs benny, and when the eggs benny came they forgot the extra salmon. When trying to get milk some lady at the counter says go and get it from a jug near the water station. While my husband was getting what he thought was milk, some guy with tatoos asks with attitude did you pay for that. Well god damn it all we wanted was extra milk for the coffee, instead of asking nicely what were after maybe he thought oh brown guy = stealing tea/milk, it wasnt even bloody milk in that jug anyway why the hell would any paying customer want to steal your milk. TEACH STAFF CUSTOMER SERVICE. They walk around and talk like they all own the joint, which is not a good excuse to act like that anyway.

Review №91

There are a couple of steps in between the upper and lower level, but they have an entrance on both levels if youre on wheels. Althpugh the till is 9n the upper level. Tables can be a bit close together, necessitating a bit of a shuffle. Great hotchocolates.

Review №92

Cool spot, friendly staff.

Review №93

Outrageous prices...bacon buttie, eggs on toast and 2 coffees on New Years Day..$48.....we live in Spain and travel a lot and have never been charged extra on a bank holiday anywhere in the world...we dont t like being ripped off...🤬

Review №94

Coffee good as usual but this place has really gone off lately. The muffins were just balls of dough. Too lazy to make proper muffins these days guys?

Review №95

Really, really terrible coffee. Ive had dishwater stronger than this. First sip was so terrible I almost threw the cup out, but by then I was on the bus. Weak and with nasty bitterness, burnt/sour aftertaste, and its as if they used water and not milk. Service was really friendly however, and the place had a nice atmosphere. But you couldnt pay me to have coffee there again. Id rather go to espresso workshop which isnt farther than this. Now THAT is amazing coffee.

Review №96

Had the Loaded Dog. Overall subpar. Was a bit dry and lacking flavour. Not sure what made it Loaded either. Just had a sausage with tons of shredded lettuce on top. Wouldnt order it again. The Bacon Buttie and Bacon Pikelets looked fantastic though but have to rate based on my order.

Review №97

One of my fav in the town. Visit it quite often when back in the uni for a lovely brunch catch up with friends. Love the pulled pork sandwich (the pork is juicy enough) and isle have it all ( meat version). The portion of “isle have it all” is big for me and need a pal to finish it hahaha

Review №98

Good food, nice atmosphere 😍😍

Review №99

Bad service like warm cappuccino an occasion, tables not clean. Disappointed

Review №100

Great service good price and the best cappuccino and hotcakes Ive had in a long time!
